Getting a Dominica +1 767 Number for Codes and Calls

Say you grew up in Dominica, now live abroad, and run a small online business with buyers on the island. Customers there are far more comfortable messaging a 767 number than a foreign one, yet you do not want your personal phone tied to the shop's social accounts. You need a Dominica phone number for verification on a business profile, and possibly a second number people can keep reaching.

First, don't mix up Dominica and the Dominican Republic

This trips up more sign-ups than anything else. Dominica is the English-speaking island between Guadeloupe and Martinique, with area code 767. The Dominican Republic is a different country, sharing an island with Haiti, and its numbers use 809, 829 or 849.

Entering a +1 767 number without errors

Dominica sits inside the North American Numbering Plan, so a full number is the country code 1, the area code 767 and a seven-digit local number: +1 767 XXX XXXX. There is no zero to drop.

Forms handle this in two ways. Some show a country list; select Dominica and type the ten digits starting with 767. Others assume every +1 number is American or Canadian. In that case, type the ten digits anyway; the area code is what tells the app where the line belongs. Avoid adding an extra 1 in front of the area code when the country code is already filled in.

English is the official language and most verification texts will arrive in English. Many Dominicans also speak Kwéyòl, a French-based Creole, but apps rarely send codes in it.
