Teams launching a fintech, delivery or messaging product in Guinea usually discover that their SMS step behaves differently from the markets they tested first. Number length, sender ID handling and French-language templates all need a real check, not a mocked one.

How Guinean mobile numbers are written

A Guinean mobile number is nine digits and normally starts with 6, so in international form you will see +224 6XX XX XX XX. There is no leading 0 to strip.

If an app asks for the country first, pick Guinea (watch out for Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea sitting right next to it in the list) and enter the nine digits. In a single combined field, start with +224. French is the official language, so most verification texts arrive in French; some apps use your account language instead. Pular, Malinke and Susu are widely spoken, but SMS codes are rarely sent in them.

Ordering a single Guinea code from the dashboard

For a one-off code, skip the API entirely:

1. Create your account with an email and a 6-digit email code, or sign in with Google.
2. Top up. Prices per app become visible, and ordering opens, after the first top-up.
3. Choose Guinea and the app you are signing up for.
4. Enter the +224 number in that app and request the code.
5. Keep the dashboard open; the live inbox usually shows the code a minute or two later.

What if the code from Guinea never shows up?

An Instant OTP order has 20 minutes to receive its code. If that time runs out empty, or you cancel while still waiting, the whole amount returns to your wallet without you asking. Delivered codes are not refundable.

Practical fixes, roughly in order:

• double-check that Guinea, not a neighboring country, was selected in the app;
