Laos (+856) Numbers for OTP Codes and a Second Line
OTP Bolt lets you receive a verification code on a Laos (+856) number with Instant OTP, starting from $0.20 per code and refunded in full if no code arrives within 20 minutes. If you want a Lao number that stays yours, a Dedicated Number from $1.95/month can be requested; the team confirms availability, price and any ID or address step first.
Is there a Laos virtual number I can use today?
There is, for one-off codes. Instant OTP hands you a working +856 number for a single verification SMS, and the order is done once that code appears. You can be in Vientiane, Bangkok or Berlin; it makes no difference to how it works.
A longer-term Lao number is a separate product, the Dedicated Number, and for Laos it is set up by request after a review by our team. More on that below.
Who usually needs a +856 number?
A few situations come up again and again:
- Lao students and workers abroad who want an account tied to a home-country number without paying roaming.
- Travelers who would rather not give a guesthouse booking app or ride-hailing service their personal number.
- Small exporters and tour operators who keep a separate second number for business sign-ups.
- Development teams checking that their app's phone step accepts Lao numbers before a launch in the region.
All of these are about privacy or keeping work and personal life apart. Use the number for your own real account, under the app's own rules.
What does a Lao mobile number look like in a form?
Lao mobile numbers are usually written at home as 020 followed by eight digits. In international format the leading 0 drops away, so the same number becomes +856 20 and then the eight digits.
When an app shows a country picker, choose Laos (+856) and paste the number starting from 20. If the app has a single free-text field instead, paste the full +856 version. Never keep both the 0 and the +856 together; that is the most common reason a Lao number gets rejected as invalid.
Verification texts are typically sent in English, though an app set to Lao may send its wording in Lao script. The code digits are what you copy either way.
Which services can send a code to Laos?
OTP Bolt shows more than 1,700 apps with Instant OTP for Laos at the moment. Popular picks include Facebook, LINE, WeChat, WhatsApp, Telegram, TikTok, Instagram, Google (Gmail & YouTube), Microsoft & Outlook, Zalo, Lazada, Shopee, Airbnb and Netflix.
That list changes as routes change, so search for your app in the dashboard before you buy.
How do I get a Laos code in five steps?
- Sign up at /signup using email plus a 6-digit code, or with Google.
- Add funds to your wallet once; prices become visible and buying is unlocked.
- Pick the app, then pick Laos.
- Paste the +856 number into the app and ask it to send the code.
- Read the code in your dashboard's live inbox, usually within a minute or two.
You have 20 minutes per order. No code in that time, or a cancel before any code shows, means the full price is returned to your wallet without you asking. A delivered code counts as used and is not refunded. If the first SMS was lost, you can sometimes request another one on the same number.
When is a Dedicated Number the better choice for Laos?
Pick it when the number has to keep working: recurring logins, password recovery, or a contact line customers can call. You get an SMS inbox for unlimited verification texts, calling straight from Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, inbound calls in the browser and a call log.
Instant self-serve activation exists in just three places: the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. For Laos, open the dashboard and use Request a country. The OTP Bolt team checks whether a Lao number can be provided, confirms the price and tells you if an address or ID check is needed before activation. Timing varies. Terms are prepaid from $1.95/month, renewal comes out of the wallet after an email reminder, and you can release the number at any time. See Dedicated Numbers for the full feature list.
Can my QA team automate +856 tests?
Yes. Create an API key and your test suite can order a Laos number, poll until the OTP arrives, and cancel when a run aborts so the cost comes back. It is a practical way to confirm that your form handles the +856 20 format correctly. Start at /developers.
Paying for Lao numbers
Everything runs on a prepaid USD wallet. Card payments go through Stripe checkout; USDT and USDC are accepted as well. Each top-up gets an emailed PDF invoice, and the first one is what reveals the exact per-app price for Laos.

Questions people ask
Can I get a Lao number if I am living in Thailand?
Yes. Instant OTP is used through the browser, so where you live does not matter. A Lao Dedicated Number is requested from the dashboard and reviewed case by case.
Do I enter 020 or 20 after +856?
Enter 20 followed by the eight digits. The leading 0 is only used when dialing inside Laos.
What happens if the Laos code is late?
You can keep waiting until the 20-minute window ends. If nothing arrives, the order closes and the price returns to your wallet automatically.
Is the Instant OTP number reusable for a second app?
No. Each order covers one code for one app. Buy a new order for the next app, or request a Dedicated Number if you want one +856 number for several accounts over time.
Will every app accept a Laos phone number for verification?
Not every app does, because some refuse virtual numbers. When that happens and no code is delivered, you are not charged.
Can I make calls with a Lao Dedicated Number?
Once a requested number is active, you can call from your browser and take inbound calls there too, with no SIM or app install.
Is there a monthly fee for Instant OTP?
No. You pay per code from your wallet, from $0.20 per code depending on the app.
