A Malian number when you live in Paris, Abidjan or Dakar

A lot of the people looking for a +223 number are not in Mali at all. A student who grew up in Bamako and now studies in France wants a Malian contact on a profile her relatives recognize. A cooperative selling produce abroad needs a business account with a local number that isn't the manager's personal phone. An aid worker posted to Mopti wants accounts ready before the flight, not after a day of queuing for a SIM.

Each case comes down to the same request: a Mali phone number for verification, a second number that works today and keeps the private one private. OTP Bolt handles it in two ways, covered below.

What OTP Bolt offers on +223

  • Instant OTP: a Mali number that receives one code for one app. Prices start from $0.20 per code, and a refund is automatic if the code never shows.
  • Dedicated Number: a +223 line that remains yours while you renew it, from $1.95/month, with an SMS inbox and browser calling. Outside the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico these are not self-serve, so a Mali line goes through a request first.

For a single sign-up, Instant OTP is enough. For an account you'll need to recover or log into by SMS later, plan on a Dedicated Number.

Receiving a code on a Mali virtual number

  1. Register using Google, or with an email address you confirm through a 6-digit code.
  2. Add funds to your wallet. Your first top-up unlocks ordering and shows the real price for each app in Mali.
  3. In Instant OTP, select the app and set the country to Mali.
  4. Copy the +223 number and enter it in the app's verification screen.
  5. The SMS appears in the dashboard's live inbox, normally within a minute or two.

Paste the OTP into the app. That number is linked to this one order only, so don't rely on it for future logins.

Apps you can verify with a +223 number

To receive SMS online in Mali, you have plenty of choice: more than 1,600 apps support Instant OTP there right now. Among those people use most:

  • Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat
  • WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber and imo for staying in touch with family
  • Google (Gmail & YouTube), Microsoft & Outlook and LinkedIn for work
  • ChatGPT (OpenAI) and Claude for AI tools
  • Amazon, AliExpress and Alibaba for buying and sourcing goods

The live list in your dashboard is updated as coverage changes, so check it before ordering. App names are the trademarks of their owners, and we have no affiliation with them.

If the SMS never shows up

Every Instant OTP order has a 20-minute window. No code inside that window means the full price is credited back to your wallet automatically, and the same happens if you cancel before anything arrives. Once a code is delivered, the order counts as used and isn't refunded.

Before giving up, check a few things. Did the app keep +223 selected, or did it switch to your current country? Did you hit "resend" several times in a row? Some apps pause after repeated requests. The dashboard sometimes lets you ask for another SMS on the same number, which is worth a try.

If it still fails, the app may not accept virtual numbers. Cancel, keep the refund, and try again later or with a different country.

When a permanent +223 line makes more sense

Choose a Dedicated Number when the number has to stay the same: a business profile customers will message, an account protected by two-step SMS, or anything you might need to recover. You get:

  • An inbox for unlimited verification texts on one number
  • Calls placed from Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, with no SIM or app
  • Inbound calls picked up in a browser tab, each one recorded in the call log
  • Prepaid renewal from your wallet, a reminder email before it renews, and release at any time

For Mali, open "Request a country" in the dashboard. The OTP Bolt team checks availability and price, and tells you whether local rules require an address or ID check before activation. How long that takes depends on the country. The Dedicated Numbers page explains the product in full.

Typing a Malian number correctly, and which language to expect

Numbers in Mali are eight digits long and there is no leading 0 to remove. In a form with a country menu, pick Mali (+223) and enter the eight digits. In a single international field, write +223 and then the digits with no spaces or dashes.

French is common in business and administration, and Bambara is the most widely spoken language in daily life. International apps send codes in the language of your account or phone settings, which means English or French in most cases.

Developers and paying for codes

Building a service for Malian customers? Test your own sign-up flow on real +223 numbers through the REST API: create an API key, order a number, poll for the SMS and cancel what you don't use. The developers page lists the endpoints.

Everything runs from a prepaid USD wallet. Pay by card through Stripe checkout, or in USDT or USDC if crypto is easier from where you are. PDF invoices are emailed, and the starting rates are on the pricing page.

Will a Mali number work for Facebook or WhatsApp?

Both are among the apps with Instant OTP in Mali at the moment. Apps can still refuse a particular number, which is why an undelivered code is refunded.

Is it fine to use one number for many accounts?

No. Keep to one account per real person or business and follow each app's terms of use.
