What is Zalo checking when it texts you a code?

Zalo is Vietnam's most widely used messaging app, and it identifies every account by a phone number. When you register, Zalo sends an SMS code to confirm the number is reachable. The same check comes back when you log in on a new phone.

In Vietnam, Zalo is also where a lot of everyday business happens: shops, landlords, schools and service companies often chat with customers there, and many businesses run Zalo Official Accounts. That is why people living or working with Vietnam from abroad end up needing a Zalo account, often before they have a local SIM.

Do I need a Vietnamese +84 number for Zalo?

Not necessarily. Zalo accepts numbers from many countries, and Instant OTP for Zalo is live in 198 of them.

A +84 number from Vietnam is the natural fit if your contacts are Vietnamese or you are about to move there. Other common picks are the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Germany, France, Canada, the United Kingdom, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, often chosen by Vietnamese communities abroad or by people working with Vietnamese suppliers.

If you go with Vietnam, remember the format: mobile numbers there have 10 digits starting with 0. In Zalo, select +84 and type the number without that 0.

How do I get the Zalo code into my dashboard?

Zalo, like other apps, can decline certain number ranges, and a message can occasionally fail to arrive. Before you give up on an order:

• Confirm that the country code and number in Zalo match the dashboard. A leftover leading 0 on a Vietnamese number is a common slip.
• Use Zalo's resend option once, if it appears. A second SMS can sometimes land on the same number.
• If the 20 minutes run out, or you cancel before any code arrives, the full price returns to your wallet automatically.
• Then reorder in another country.

There is no refund on an order whose code was delivered.

Is a long-term number better for Zalo?

If you will keep using the account, yes. Zalo re-verifies when you switch devices, and losing access to the number can mean losing access to the chats your customers or family use to reach you.
